Patricia Fries, M.A.ed.
Retired E.E. Program Specialist
Trish worked at the Wissahickon Environmental Center for 18.5 years, and it was reportedly her favorite job "ever."
Growing up outside of Washington DC as a child who played outdoors morning until night, her favorite things to do were create games using plant leaves and seeds. From the age of 12 she wanted to be a park naturalist. After graduating from college with a degree in landscape architecture, she moved to Philadelphia, worked in her field, and began to raise a family of three sons and a daughter. Sharing her love of nature with her children led to a career change. She began teaching at Awbury Arboretum, and then worked as director of Green Lane Nature Center in Montgomery County.
Trish has traveled to every state in the US; her honeymoon was a trip camping across the US and Canada on the way to a work-study semester in Alaska.
She is now the beaming grandmother of nine
grandchildren and is looking forward to sharing
the summers with them in the Finger Lakes
region of New York now that she is retired.
